What we collect. If you sign up for the newsletter: your email address, the time you signed up, and a short label for which form you used.

What we collect and why
Newsletter signup
When you sign up for the newsletter, we store:
- your email address
- the time you signed up
- a short label for which form you used
The signup form does not save your IP address in our database. It asks you to confirm that you are 18 or over; we do not store that confirmation.
We collect this to send you the newsletter. The legal basis is your consent.
You give consent by ticking the box on the signup form, next to this sentence: "I agree that WhiskyFantastic stores my email address to send me its newsletter. I can withdraw this at any time."
Giving your email address is voluntary. Without it there is no newsletter.
Cookies and local storage
The site itself sets no cookies.
Local storage. The site saves one entry in your browser's local storage to remember your choice about Instagram posts. It stores your choice and the date. It is kept for six months, then you are asked again. This is needed to respect your choice.
Instagram posts. The home page can show our latest Instagram posts. They load from Instagram (Meta) only if you choose to show them in the box on the page. If you choose not to show them or do not answer, nothing is requested from Instagram.
If you choose to show them:
- Your browser connects to Instagram.
- Meta can receive your IP address.
- Instagram sets cookies on your device. In our test on 3 October 2026 there were five: csrftoken, datr, ig_did, mid and wd. Four of them lasted about six months and wd lasted 7 days.
We do not control these cookies and cannot remove them. You can delete them in your browser settings. For more on Instagram's cookies, see Meta's cookie policy: https://privacycenter.instagram.com/policies/cookies/
You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer.
Fonts. Fonts are served from our own website. Nothing is loaded from external font services.
Cloudflare. Cloudflare delivers the website and processes technical data including your IP address.
Cloudflare Web Analytics. A small script from static.cloudflareinsights.com loads on every page. It counts page views and measures how fast pages load.
Cloudflare says the service "does not use any client-side state, such as cookies or localStorage" to collect usage metrics, and that it "does not collect or use your visitors' personal data." Cloudflare also says it does not fingerprint visitors. The script request reaches Cloudflare's servers; we see aggregate counts, not a profile of any person.
No automated decisions
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling.
Who handles data on our behalf

Transfers outside the European Economic Area
Cloudflare, Google and Meta are US companies, so they may process your data outside the European Economic Area. All three are listed as participants in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognises as providing adequate protection for certified companies. We checked the official list on 3 October 2026.
How long we keep your data
We keep your email address until you ask us to delete it. Write to privacy@whiskyfantastic.com. We answer within one month.
Deleted data can remain in our database backups for up to 30 days.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the data we hold about you
- have it corrected if it is wrong
- have it deleted
- withdraw your consent at any time
- ask us to limit how we use it, in some situations
- receive the data you gave us in a common format
- object to us using your email address for marketing
- lodge a complaint with the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (the Dutch data protection authority) at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl

Where your data comes from
All data comes from you directly. We do not receive it from other sources.
